  2. Open the form. Go to the application form at miro.com/education-whiteboard
  3. Submit proof of status. Fill out the form with your educational email and a **link to proof of student status** — a school ID, an enrollment confirmation page, or an official document on your school's website
  4. Wait for review. Submit and wait — Miro's team reviews applications directly (not SheerID/UNiDAYS). Response can take up to 10 days
  5. Switch to your team. Once approved, switch to your Education team from the left sidebar on your Miro dashboard
  6. Renew after 2 years. After 2 years, reply to the renewal email or re-apply with updated proof to extend for another 2 years

Who's eligible

Who can get the Miro Education Plan - FREE for 2 Years student discount?
Students and staff at accredited educational institutions — middle schools, high schools, colleges, universities, and technical schools. Individuals not affiliated with an accredited institution are not eligible. Accounts with existing paid teams cannot apply for an Education plan.
How long does Miro Education Plan - FREE for 2 Years student access last?
Student Education teams are valid for 2 years (educators get it indefinitely). Teams are limited to 10 members for students, one team per email, one Team Admin per team. After 2 years, you can re-apply with updated proof of continued student status and Miro extends it for another 2 years if approved.
Is the Miro Education Plan - FREE for 2 Years student discount available worldwide?
Available globally to students at accredited educational institutions. Eligibility is based on institution accreditation rather than country. If your school does not issue a standard educational email domain, contact Miro Support with alternative proof of enrollment.

What's included

Miro is an online collaborative whiteboard used by teams for brainstorming, diagramming, product design, and remote workshops. The Education plan gives verified students at accredited institutions full access free for 2 years, with unlimited active boards and most premium features. Apply with an educational email and proof of enrollment; Miro reviews applications directly (no SheerID or UNiDAYS step).

  • Unlimited Active BoardsNo limit on the number of active boards you can run at once — a significant upgrade from the free plan's board cap.
  • Unlimited External Viewers & CommentersShare boards with classmates, teammates, or professors who don't need a Miro account to view or leave comments.
  • High-Resolution Exports & Custom TemplatesExport boards at high resolution and create custom templates for reusable project structures — normally paid-plan features.
  • Teams of Up to 10 MembersStudent Education teams support up to 10 members, enough for most class project groups, capstone teams, or student orgs.
  • Fundamental IntegrationsConnect Miro with other common tools used in class projects through Miro's fundamental integration set.
  • 2 Years of Free AccessValid for a full 2 years from approval. Renewable by re-applying with updated proof of continued enrollment.
04

Fine print & gotchas

  • Existing paid teams can't apply. Accounts with a paid Miro team aren't eligible for the Education plan.
  • Approval can take up to 10 days. Miro reviews applications manually, not via instant verification.
  • Capped at 10 team members for student Education teams; video chat and email support are excluded.
  • Free for 2 years, then re-apply with updated proof — without renewal it downgrades to Free or a paid plan.
05

Common questions

How much do students actually pay?
Nothing — the Education plan is 100% free for 2 years. Miro's paid plans start at $8/user/month (Starter, billed annually), so the Education plan replaces what would otherwise be a paid subscription.
What proof of student status is accepted?
An educational email on a `.edu`, `.k12`, or institution domain is the primary path. You also need to include a link supporting your student status — a school ID, enrollment page, or official document verifying you're enrolled at an accredited institution.
How long does approval take?
Up to 10 days. Once approved, the team is activated on your Miro dashboard and you can switch to it from the left sidebar.
What if my school email isn't accepted?
If you're enrolled at an accredited institution but your email domain isn't recognized, contact Miro Support with proof of affiliation (student/faculty ID or official enrollment confirmation). They review non-standard applications manually.
What happens after 2 years?
You can re-apply by submitting updated proof of continued student status, and Miro extends the plan for another 2 years if approved. Without renewal, the team can be downgraded to a Free plan or upgraded to a paid Starter/Business plan.
Are there any feature limits compared to paid plans?
Yes — student Education teams are capped at 10 members (100 for educator teams), and the plan excludes features like video chat and email support. All core collaboration features are included.
