Kiro Students - Free Pro Plan for One Year

Students aged 18+ enrolled at one of 11 partner universities in the US or Canada (Arizona State, Cal Poly SLO, Cal State Fullerton, Carnegie Mellon, Georgia Tech, Hampton, NYU, University of Chicago, University of Toronto, University of Waterloo, UT Austin), with a valid university-affiliated email.

1,000 Kiro credits per month for 12 months — the same monthly allowance as the paid Kiro Pro plan ($20/month). You get full access to the Kiro IDE and CLI agentic coding capabilities, including spec-driven development.

Your account automatically downgrades to the Kiro Free tier, which provides 50 credits per month. No charges, no surprise billing.

No. Credits reset at the end of each month and do not carry forward. There are also no overage purchases available during the student program — once you hit 1,000 credits in a month you wait for the next reset.

Verification runs through SheerID using your university-affiliated email and takes about one minute. You can only verify your student status once, so make sure all your information is accurate before submitting.

Not at launch. The program started with 11 partner universities; Kiro has said more schools will be added over time, but other universities and other countries are not currently eligible.
